This invitation-only session will provide companies with an opportunity to hear directly from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition what the Government of National Unity in South Africa is planning to do to operationalize public commitments to address a number of economic challenges.
This session will begin with Minister Tau offering his reflections on the key policy priorities he and his team have identified, and his thoughts on what steps the government plans to take on important issues like electricity generation and essential services, as well as efforts to stimulate more economic growth and employment, including attracting Foreign Direct Investment.
Other important issues will include steps South Africa is taking to implement the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), and how this landmark agreement may change the face of regional and continental trade. The Minister will also offer some thoughts on the importance of access to finance for companies.
This discussion will take place under Chatham House rules to encourage an open discussion, without specific attribution.
